KOHL CHILDREN'S MUSEUM
Looking for a fun indoor activity to do this winter that isn’t holiday related? We took our two toddlers to the Kohl Children’s Museum located in Glenview and couldn’t be happier with our experience. This bright, friendly, and educational place is great for children of all ages. With a plethora of different environments and areas there is something for everyone. Our 1.5 year old children easily spent an hour and half at the museum so allot for 2-3 hours for older kids.
We were impressed by the different areas for children to learn and explore. Remi was a big fan of the Whole Foods grocery environment while Sonny naturally gravitated toward the car room. The hands-on activities and areas for guest to explore also included a baby nursery, a book nook, music room, interactive water area (bring a change of clothes), science experiments, restaurant and cooking setup, a veterinarian office, train center, art room, jungle and farm area. No wonder their motto is THE PLACE WHERE AWESOME LIVES. During the warmer weather months there is an outdoor area for children to explore. We are looking forward to bringing our kiddos back to enjoy the outdoor fun! Covid protocols include the museum closing from 12-1pm for sanitation which is perfect time to stop by the on-site healthy restaurant, Bean Sprout Café. At the time of our visit masks were required over the mouth and nose for all guests age 2 and older and there were several hand sanitation centers onsite. Staff walked through the museum kindly reminding children that objects didn’t go in their mouth too!
Regular museum hours are Tuesday through Sunday 9:30am to 5pm with members enjoying an extra hour from 8:30am to 9:30am. Members and infants (under 12 months) are FREE, children (1-16) and adults (17-64) are $15, and seniors (65+) pay $14. Pro Tip: Advanced ticket sale reservations save an additional $2 per ticket. Throughout the year there are special holiday events at the museum including KOHLIGHT. The mesmertastic holiday lightacular runs from November 26 to December 31 and is an outdoor walkthrough trail where children can control and change the lights. The museum is available for fundraisers, celebrations, meetings, and corporate events. If you visit the Kohl Children’s Museum, make sure to tell us about your experience.
