Looking for a date night event or baking class with your girlfriends? Kristin Hoffman "Baker Bettie" has the perfect solution and that is BETTIE'S CHICAGO! This spot is a retro diner-themed event space located in River North of downtown Chicago. Entering the front door gave off an immediate "Happy Days" vibe! Bettie's Chicago offers weekly baking classes and date night events hosted by Baker Bettie herself. The classes give participants a hands-on experience to cooking or baking guided by instruction and techniques. After class you will be emailed a full recipe rundown!
Katie and Amanda attended the Pies and Pastries class this past weekend. We couldn't get over the 1950's esthetic which included a juke box, coke machine and vintage kitchen venue space. Upon arrival of our morning class we were welcomed with coffee, tea and the most delicious homemade chocolate chip and lemon muffins. Kristen and her assistant Audrey were so warm and welcoming. Kristen was a fantastic teacher gave directives which were easy to follow regardless of your experience in the kitchen. We learned so much about the science of baking and unfortunately how too much water can ruin your dough...cough cough Katie!! Luckily they help you save your dish and students can bring home their finished products which were delicious and a great added bonus! In just a few hours we were able to make a caramel apple pie and four chocolate chip and cream cheese danishes.
If sweets aren't your thing, Kristen has tons of other options including bread making, artisan pizza from scratch, pasta making, cake decorating and happy hour focaccia design. The space is also available for private classes, parties, corporate events and can be easily customized perfect for birthday parties, showers or just because gatherings. The back of the event space is filled with a 1950s decorated room including a photo booth to capture your memory. Bettie's also sells their cookbook, cookware and monetary gift cards perfect so the recipients are able to choose the class of their preference.
